This custom text ketubah was inspired by a verse from a Bruce Springsteen song,
Should we lose each other in the shadow
of the evening trees, I'll wait for you,
And should I fall behind, wait for me.
Stargazer lilies and magnolia trees in blossom frame the text in a composition paying homage to Louis Comfort Tiffany's stained glass window, "Magnolia and Irises," (1905).
Across the top in Hebrew reads, "I am my beloved's and my beloved is mine."
30x30, gouache, ink, and colored pencil on watercolor paper, 2004.
The design had several proposed variations before settling on the final version.
